Aureus Research, Inc. is a privately-owned, multi-specialty clinical research company located in Little Rock, Arkansas. It is a dedicated research site, conducting Phase I-IV outpatient trials. Aureus Research provides both patients and pharmaceutical clients with professional, first-class, quality patient care and accurate research data.
The Principal Investigator and both Study Coordinators have conducted studies for a variety of conditions, such as hypertension, diabetes, allergies, asthma, osteoarthritis, gout, healthy volunteer, and pain management. Facility staff has worked with many major pharmaceutical companies, such as Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer, Merck, GlaxoSmithKline, Bayer, Wyeth and Takeda, as well as smaller companies, such as Cumberland, IOMAI and TAP, for studies in all phases.
Robert E. Harrell, Jr., M.D., serves as Principal Investigator for Aureus Research, Inc. He is Board Certified in Emergency Medicine and Family Practice, has 20+ years of research experience, is certified through the Academy of Pharmaceutical Physicians and Investigators and is a member of the Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP). Dr. Harrell is currently on the Board of Directors of the American College of Emergency Physicians, a member of the Arkansas Emergency Physicians Foundation and a member of the American Medical Association. Dr. Harrell has research experience in a wide variety of conditions and phases, including Phase I studies in both healthy volunteers and non-healthy patients.
Aureus Research, Inc. is owned by Angela Allred and Courtney Simmons. Both owners are Certified Clinical Research Professionals (CCRP) in good standing with the Society of Clinical Research Associates (SoCRA) and have a combined 30+ years of clinical research experience. Both Mrs. Allred and Mrs. Simmons have worked in a variety of clinical trials, including community-based informational studies, oncology studies and Phase I first-in-human trials. They both have experience working within large academic medical centers, large private hospitals, small private hospitals, a specialized Phase I research center and a privately owned small research business. Both are also well versed in conducting patient visits, administering study medication, and providing complete and thorough instructions to study subjects on following study guidelines. Both owners are CPR certified and have been trained in IATA, Human Subjects Protection, HIPAA and Blood-Borne Pathogens. Mrs. Allred and Mrs. Simmons serve as the primary Study Coordinators at Aureus Research. Additional medical personnel are contracted as appropriate, depending on the need of the individual study.

Our center offers outpatient facilities with access to an inpatient Phase I unit. Aureus Research is located in the heart of Central Arkansas and is easily accessible through public transportation. We are within 5 miles of two local hospitals and about 20 minutes from Little Rock National Airport. We have dedicated monitoring space with high-speed internet, phone, fax and copier available.
