The Clinical Research Department within Springfield Neurology Associates specializes in Neurological phase II-IV adult clinical trials and has the capacity to perform IV infusions. This independent research and specialty care facility has a current database of over 65,000 patients with 100 patient visits daily and 2,400 new patients added annually. Our ability to utilize a central IRB along with contract and budget turnaround times aimed at 5-10 business days makes the ease of study initiation relatively seamless as we are dedicated to the conduction of top quality research and aggressive patient enrollment.
The location is easily accessible to patients in the surrounding Massachusetts and Connecticut communities reaching a population of over 500,0000.
Our research experience includes Alzheimer's Disease/Dementia, Multiple Sclerosis, Migraine, Restless Leg Syndrome, Parkinson's Disease, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, and Epilepsy. Additional areas of interest include Mild Cognitive Impairment, Neuropathy, Acute & Chronic Pain, Fibromyalgia, Insomnia, Sleep Disorders and Psychiatric Disorders.
Michael L. Rossen, MD, PhD
Dr. Rossen is a Principal Investigator for Springfield Neurology Associates and possesses over 5 years of neurology based clinical research experience. He is board certified in Neurology and Neurophysiology, as well as having a Ph.D. in experimental cognitive psychology. He manages private practice patients as well as serving as the principal physician for clinical trials.
Michael R. Sorrell, MD
Dr. Sorrell, managing partner, has over 30 years as a neurologist in this community with over 5 years of experience as a sub-investigator. He is board certified in neurology and headache medicine.
Emilio M. Melchionna, MD
Dr. Melchionna is a board certified neurologist who specializes in neuromuscular disease and gait disorder, as well as serving as the Director of Neurology at a local hospital.
Our full-time research coordinators have over 26 years of combined experience which also includes creation of study specific source documents, RDE proficiency, regulatory expertise, and adeptness in patient satisfaction and retention.
*Several additional sub-investigators/psychometricians are employed by Springfield Neurology Associates. The most recent certified rater training has primarily included Dementia and Alzheimer's Scoring and Evaluations including (but not limited to) ADAS-Cog; CDR, NTB, DAD and MINI testing.

Equipment at our site includes: centrifuge, -30°F locked freezer, locked refrigerator, interpretive ECG machine, EEG equipment and testing, EMG equipment/ testing as well as a crash cart.
Dedicated Research Space:
Research examination rooms, double-locked drug storage with temperature control (secure with limited access), laboratory area, conference area, study document storage (secure with limited access), and a comfortable monitor area with telephone, copier, fax, and internet connection.
