Sun Valley Research Center is focused on the comprehensive, successful management and completion of Phase II-IV clinical trials combined with our private practice. Our private practice has treated patients with schizophrenia, bipolar, depression, anger symptoms, panic and other anxiety disorders, as well as difficulty with sleep and chronic pain. We also assist the obese and those with eating disorders, plus individuals with paranoid, psychotic or schizophrenic disorders. Memory failing, Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia are also treated
We promote the advancement of wellness through research and are dedicated to advancing the development of new investigational treatments (drugs, devices). ). Our private practice has implemented programs to quit smoking, control body weight and educate the community about mental illness.
Our research team is designed to streamline efforts to assure maximum efficiency while maintaining the highest ethical standards, ensuring research subject safety. Our site consists of 2 Board Certified Psychologists and research staff to oversee all clinical trials with several years of experience. In conjunction with the University of California San Diego, the international mood disorders center and other academic institutions, various research protocols are being instituted to include studies in Latino Mental Health, Victims of Trauma, Aging, and clinical drug trials allowing the possibility of offering high quality treatments at no cost.
Sponsors are assured of timely study initiation and patient enrollments as well as accurate study protocol conduct.
Our primary source of research subjects are the patients seen in our behavioral health medical center, by private practice practitioners, multi-specialty group practices, and community hospitals. Our private practice is currently the largest private system of behavioral and psychiatric care in the Imperial County, California.
Community support is outstanding and our internal patient database is extensive coming from our sub-specialty physicians.

Alvaro Camacho, M.D.
Dr Camacho is one of the founders and the Director of Sun Valley
Research Center, located in Imperial, CA. Dr. Camacho is also the
Medical Director of the Imperial County Behavioral Health Services
in El Centro, CA. Dr. Camacho is a consultant for El Centro
Regional Medical Center, Pioneer's Hospital in Brawley, CA and a
staff psychiatrist at the Imperial County Behavioral Health. He
also is a psychiatrist at the Sun Valley Behavioral Medical Center
focusing on Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine. Dr. Camacho is
certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology since
2005. Dr. Camacho is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry
for the University of California, San Diego. Dr. Camacho has
participated in several conferences and speaking engagements for
American Psychiatric Association, Lilly, Azur Pharmaceutical. He is
also part of the speaker's bureau for Jansen and Pfizer. Dr.
Camacho has several years of research experience which includes
clinical trials and investigator initiated trials which awarded him
the Department of Psychiatry Chairman's Research Award at UCSD
during his years of training.
Bernardo Ng, M.D.
Dr. Ng is the Medical Director of Sun Valley Behavioral Center
located in Imperial, CA and ALEGRIA Adult Health Care Center
located in Calexico, CA, which are both privately operated. Dr. Ng
is one of the founders of Sun Valley Research Center in conjunction
with Sun Valley Behavioral Center. He is also the Medical Director
of the Imperial Valley Drug & Rehabilitation Clinic in El
Centro, CA. Dr. Ng has been certified by the American Board of
Psychiatry and Neurology since 1995 and has a sub-specialty in
Psychosomatic Medicine. Dr. Ng has been an Assistant Clinical
Professor for the Department of Psychiatry at UCSD since 1995 and a
consultant in the district branch relations for the American
Psychiatric Association since 2006. He has participated in several
clinical trials and investigator initiated trials since 1994 and
has participated in several speaking engagements for Eisai, Forest,
Glaxo Smth Klein, Jansen, Lilly, Pfizer and Wyeth. Dr. Ng has
several years of research experience which includes clinical trials
and investigator initiated trials.
Our staff pays close attention to adhering to the sponsor's study protocol, current FDA, GCP and ICH guidelines, and the company's standard operating procedures. Such attention to detail maximizes patient safety while also maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the clinical data.
Our offices draw from a very diverse pool of potential patients. Imperial County has over 140,000 people. Seventy percent (70%) of the population of the Imperial county is of Latino background, predominately Mexican-Americans, the remaining thirty percent consists of Caucasian, Asian American and African Americans. This is a unique population for a variety of studies, looking at different outcomes in Rural Hispanics living in a Border County in Southern California

Outpatient studies can be conducted either at our site or at the designated physician's office. We have the capability to perform inpatient studies as a result of our association with Pioneers Memorial Hospital and El Centro Regional Medical Center. We can use either a central Institutional Review Board (IRB) or local IRB for studies conducted at inpatient facilities.
We have designated areas which include ample storage for files and study drug, freezer, refrigerator, centrifuge and exam rooms. Our high quality and safety standards extend to strict quality control of all environmental factors and equipment.
