JEM Research Institute was founded by three neurologist, Dr. James Goldenberg, Dr. Eric Kramer and Dr. Mark Goldstein. Our neurologists have over 60 years combined clinical experience.
We have been conducting in hospital clinical trials since 1998 but established a dedicated research center two and a half years ago. We now operate in a 4,200+ square foot site and draw from a large database of patients in a robust neurology practice composed of four physicians and a nurse practitioner. We are part of a 70 physician multi-specialty group with approximately 30 primary physicians. We have met or exceeded target enrollment in all trials to date.
Both the research site and the practice are on the campus of a 460 bed mixed academic/private community hospital. We have access to a group owned state of the art MRI and PET scanner adjacent to our facilities.
JEM Research Institute had conducted Clinical Research Studies in the following areas:
- Alzheimer's Disease
- Parkinson's Disease
- Epilepsy
- Osteoarthritis
- Low Back Pain
- Post Herpetic Neuralgia
- Peripheral Neuropathy
Dr. Eric Kramer
Dr. Kramer obtained his undergraduate degree in Psychology from Glassboro State College, from there he went on to Temple University to obtain his Medical degree and post graduate degree in Neurology. His neurology residency was completed at the Pennsylvania Hospital and his subsequent fellowship in the sub-specialized field of Neuro-oncology at the Children's hospital of Philadelphia and the University of Pennsylvania. During his training he worked at the Massachusetts General Hospital and the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology. He served as an attending physician at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School at Camden at the Cooper Hospital. Eventually he became the division head of Neurology at the Institution in which he served for six years.
Dr. Kramer has served as Principal Investigator on numerous trials such as dementia of the Alzheimer's type, Post Herpetic Neuralgia and chronic pain just to name a few. This experience has allowed Dr. Kramer to be at the forefront of innovative medical treatment and drug development for many neurological conditions before it reaches the general public.
Dr. Mark Goldstein
Dr. Goldstein obtained his undergrad degree at Colgate University before attending Emory University from which he received his MD degree. He did a 3 year internal medicine residency at the Robert Woods Johnson School of Medicine and completed his neurology training at Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA. He is board certified in both internal medicine and neurology. Dr. Goldstein is currently chief of the division of neurology at JFK medical center, a university of Miami Medical school teaching affiliate. He has served on numerous committees including the Medical Executive Committee, the Credentials Committee (as chairman), and the Ethics Committee. Dr. Goldstein has been involved in research in both the inpatient and outpatient settings since 1997. He is dedicated to helping make JEM research the preeminent research facility in this area.
Dr. James Goldenberg
Dr. Goldenberg was born in New York in 1962. He soon moved to Florida and has been here ever since. His undergraduate degree is in Psychology from the University of Florida. His Medical School degree is from the University of South Florida. His residency in Neurology was at the University of Miami followed by a Fellowship in Neuromuscular Diseases and EMG.
