The Carle Cancer Center Community Clinical Oncology Program (CCOP) in Urbana, Illinois has been continually funded since the program's inception in 1983. Joining the Carle CCOP as component institutions are Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora, Illinois and Franciscan St. Anthony Health in Michigan City, Indiana. Altogether the Carle Cancer Center CCOP serves 34 counties throughout Illinois and Indiana.
Currently holding seven research base memberships, the Carle CCOP is well established and capable of accessing a broad range of cancer prevention, control, and treatment trials. During its tenure, the Carle CCOP has activated over 600 studies and enrolled over 6,400 patients to the National Cancer Institute (NCI) clinical trials.
The Carle CCOP has held longstanding memberships with the North Central Cancer Treatment Group (NCCTG) and the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) spanning over two and three decades, respectively. The CCOP also holds memberships with the National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project (NSABP), the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG), and the Gynecologic Oncology Group (GOG), and the Cancer Trials Support Unit (CTSU). The most recent membership is with the SunCoast CCOP Research Base. Carle has continued to be in good standing with each of the research bases throughout the years.
The Carle Cancer Center CCOP is credited with strong institutional support, a substantial Human Subjects Protection Plan, a cohesive research team, and dedicated investigators. Based on a research-driven culture, seasoned and engaged investigators, and impeccable regulatory standards, the Carle CCOP is positioned to provide the highest level of care to the communities it serves.
