MidAmerica NeuroScience Institute (MANI) is comprised of Consultants in Neurology (clinical practice in neurology) and Mid America Neuroscience Research Foundation (a nonprofit research organization with basic science and clinical interest). Founded in 1982, MANI is a full service neurology center located near Kansas City. MidAmerica NeuroScience Institute has top neurological sub-specialists, nurses, technicians, research, and support staff dedicated to providing excellent neurological healthcare in a supportive environment. The research department conducts research according to the FDA regulations and within the Good Clinical Practice Guidelines. Our research professionals maintain certification in the protection of human subjects.

John A. Hunter, PsyD, the administrator of the MidAmerica Neuroscience Institute. Prior to joining the MidAmerica Neuroscience Institute, he was the chief executive officer and hospital administrator for a hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. He has published research on multiple sclerosis, sleep, psychological assessments and stroke.
The center employs four highly qualified clinical research coordinators with a total of over 40 years of combined experience in pharmaceutical research. Three coordinators hold CCRC certifications. The coordinator backgrounds include nursing, exercise physiology, respiratory care, and biology & sociology. The study coordinators maintain certifications in human subjects' protection, CPR, and IATA shipping standards.
MidAmerica Neuroscience Institute has a Physical Therapy Center with two highly skilled professionals, Shane Jackson and Amy Nichols, both having obtained their Doctorates in Physical Therapy.
Neurology
MidAmerica Neuroscience Institute Research Foundation is located in Lenexa, Kansas toward the southwest corner of the Kansas City Metropolitan area. The 15-county Kansas City Metropolitan area is the 27th largest in the United States with an estimated population of 1,967,405. The research foundation is a handicap accessible medical clinic well equipped and conveniently located near major highways, and approximately 30 minutes from an international airport. The Institute operates its own imaging center, neurophysiology lab, state of the art polysomnography sleep lab, physical therapy center, and clinical and basic science research area.
The Sleep center is working towards accreditation by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. The center has 8 sleep beds, digital equipment. The staff includes three registered polysomnography technologists, two of whom are certified Respiratory Therapists.
The clinical research area consists of examination rooms; double-locking, limited-access medication storage (room temperature, refrigerated and -20 o); draw/processing laboratory with dedicated sample storage units (room temperature, refrigerated, -20 and -70 o); ECG equipment; radiology facilities (X-ray, MRI, CT); emergency protocols (crash cart, local ER facilities); and high-speed Internet access to support Electronic Data Capture activities and dedicated monitor space with Internet connectivity.
