Maine Center for Cancer Medicine & Blood Disorders was opened in 1978. We are a private medical group practice composed of oncologists and hematologists representing nearly 50% of the cancer specialists in Maine. Our physicians work in four different locations in Maine, and travel to clinics throughout the state to ensure care is available to those who need it.
Medical oncologists and hematologists are trained and board-certified in internal medicine, followed by additional training and certification in medical oncology (cancer medicine) or hematology (benign and malignant blood disorders). Medical oncologists frequently work in collaboration with other specialists, including surgeons and radiation oncologists. Hematologists offer consultation and continuing care for malignant and non-malignant (non cancerous) blood disorders. Most MCCM physicians are certified in both specialties.
We offer state-of-the-art cancer chemotherapy, integrated cancer care (working with other healthcare professionals) and access to clinical trials. We also provide cancer related genetic information (for family history of cancer) and related counseling. Our offices are located in Scarborough, Biddeford, Brunswick and Sanford. Clinics are held in Belfast, Boothbay Harbor, Norway and North Conway, NH.
