Research Associates of New York (RANY) is a privately owned, physician-driven research organization whose goal is to centralize clinical research activities across a variety of medical specialties. Our group is composed of specialists in the fields of gastroenterology, infectious disease, rheumatology, pulmonary disease and allergy/immunology.
All of our physicians are board-certified in their sub-specialty, and each holds an academic appointment at a major medical center in the New York area.
The physicians and research associate staff of RANY have developed considerable experience in outpatient Phase II, III, and IV pharmaceutical trials.

Lawrence B. Cohen, MD is the Medical Director of RANY. Dr. Cohen is an Associate Clinical Professor and Director of the Gastrointestinal Motility Unit at The Mount Sinai Hospital, New York. He has authored more than thirty articles, as well as a textbook of endoscopy. Dr. Cohen lectures throughout the United States on esophageal disease and swallowing disorders. Dr. Cohen has over 15 years of research experience.
James Aisenberg, MD is an Associate Director of RANY. In addition to being a partner in private practice with Dr. Cohen, Dr. Aisenberg is currently an Assistant Clinical Professor and Assistant Attending Physician at The Mt. Sinai Hospital, New York. He has received publication for more than twenty articles and has gained more than 14 years of research experience in gastroenterology alone.
In addition to Drs. Cohen and Aisenberg, there are more than 10 board-certified specialists in gastroenterology, infectious disease, pulmonary disease, rheumatology and allergy/immunology that provide consulting services to RA-NY. All of our physicians have academic and clinical appointments to a major medical center in the New York area.
We have an experienced full-time and part-time staff of study coordinators and research assistants managed by our director of operations, Robert Kirshoff, MS, CNS, CCRC, an industry professional with over 15 years of experience..
RANY draws from a metropolitan area with a population of over 18 million. Our patient profile reflects the tremendous diversity of the population within our encatchment region. As a result of this favorable population pool, we have had excellent success in recruiting patients for our trials.

Our office is fully equipped with state-of-the-art equipment. In addition, our site has full-time experienced study coordinators to facilitate patient enrollment and study completion. We have an extensive database of patients to enhance speedy patient recruitment.
