Philadelphia Eye Associates, a private comprehensive ophthalmology practice, was first started in 1978. We are dedicated to excellence in both direct patient care and clinical research. Our six board certified physicians who were all trained at either Wills Eye Hospital or University of Pennsylvania, are committed to being on the forefront of clinical ophthalmology while strictly adhering to the principles elaborated in Good Clinical Practice, the Declaration of Helsinki, and the FDA regulations.

We have had extensive experience in trials which range from Phase II-IV since 2001. We will accept proposals for Phase I research.

Our patient demographic is diverse in terms of ocular pathology, ethnicity and socioeconomic characteristics. We draw patients from both Philadelphia proper and the suburbs.


Dermatology/Plastic Surgery
Ophthalmology

Our clinical research department is located at our South Philadelphia location where we have dedicated space to accommodate the needs of our coordinators, visiting monitors and sponsors. The documents from current and prior trials are archived in secure areas at this location. We have two other locations in the Philadelphia area which are available for clinical research should the demands of a trial require their use. ETDRS charts are at each office. Locked refrigerators and cabinets are at all locations. We have a total of 18 examination rooms which are all equipped for full examinations. Photography, perimetry, pachymetry, laser, biometric ultrasound are available at each site. Our other locations are:
