Acquisition of Blood, Bone Marrow, Tumor, or Tissue Samples
RATIONALE: Collecting and storing samples of blood, bone marrow, and tissue from patients
with or without cancer to study in the laboratory may help the study of cancer in the
future.
PURPOSE: This research study is collecting samples of blood, bone marrow, tumor tissue, and
normal tissue from patients with cancer or a precancerous condition and from participants
undergoing surgery or biopsy.
OBJECTIVES:
- Acquire blood serum, circulating cells, bone marrow, and tumor or normal tissue samples
from patients with cancer or a premalignant condition or participants who are
undergoing surgery or biopsy, to be used in future cancer-related research.
OUTLINE: Blood, tissue, and/or tumor samples are collected at baseline and several follow-up
visits within 1 year and are stored for future study. No germ-line linkage analysis
(familial genetics) will be performed under the auspices of this protocol.
PROJECTED ACCRUAL: A total of 1,000 patients and participants will be accrued for this
study.
