Patients with heart failure cannot exercise as well as those who do not have heart failure,
but the exercise dysfunction is not directly attributable to heart dysfunction. Rather,
exercise is limited by problems with the skeletal muscles, the muscles in the arms and legs.
In this study, the investigators are testing the hypothesis that high adrenaline levels
lead to characteristic changes in skeletal muscles, and that interruption of these high
adrenaline levels will lead to reversal of these muscle changes and improved exercise
ability.
