A Randomized, Double Blind, Placebo and Naproxen Controlled, Multi-center, Study to Determine the Safety, Tolerability, Pharmacokinetics and Effect on Pain of a Single Intra-articular Administration of Canakinumab in Patients With Osteoarthritis in the Knee
The study will determine whether the ability of canakinumab to inhibit IL-1β activity for
sustained time-periods with a favorable impact on the three critical parameters of OA
symptoms, namely 1) pain 2) function and 3) stiffness. These outcomes will be compared to
placebo.
