The goal of this research study is to learn if meditation can help to improve cancer-related
symptoms in hospitalized cancer patients. The meditative practices taught in this study are
yoga based, but does not involve postures.
This is an investigational study.
Up to 90 participants will be enrolled in this study. All will take part at MD Anderson.

Inclusion Criteria:
1. Patients aged >/=18 years
2. Diagnosis of malignancy
3. Admitted to the hospital
4. Able to follow instructions
5. Eastern Cooperative Oncology Practice (ECOG) score of 3 or below
6. Fluency in English
Exclusion Criteria:
1. Patients with life expectancy less than 2 months per attending physician or advance
practice provider's note or assessment of prognosis
2. Patients with cognitive dysfunction
3. Patients who are admitted for observation for <48 hours will be excluded from the
study, as one day would be difficult to provide the necessary information
4. Patients who are delirious
5. Patients who are unable to follow instructions due to their medical condition
6. Patients admitted to the Intensive care unit
7. Patients with ESAS>4/10 on dyspnea
8. Patients requiring oxygen more than 2 liters
9. Patients who are current meditation practitioners
