Investigator Experience
Fares J. Arguello, MD, Medical Director has 32 years experience in psychiatry, and ten years clinical research experience. Dr. Arguello has conducted over 200 clinical trials in the past ten years. Dr. Arguello is a graduate of the University of Utah School of Medicine, and is Board Certified in Adult Psychiatry. Dr. Arguello has served as Director of the Drug and Alcohol Treatment Unit at Pioneer Valley Hospital, Medical Director of CPC Olympus View Hospital and Chief of Medical Staff at Pioneer Valley Hospital. He has also served in a consulting role to the medical case management organizations of Human Affairs International and Intracorp. Dr. Arguello was inducted into the prestigious SCRIP organization in 2006.
Richard N. Shingleton, Ph.D, Principal Investigator is a licensed clinical psychologist who has worked in a variety of medical settings. Early in his career he worked with youth at the Utah State Hospital Youth Center, Odyssey House, and Utah State School. He assisted in the creation of Cottonwood Hospital’s Eating Disorder Unit and worked with eating disorders for a number of years. Currently, his full-time work is in pharmaceutical research of psychotropic medications and other CNS compounds. Dr. Shingleton has served as a sub-investigator in over 500 clinical drug trials over the past 20 years. His primary function has been diagnosing, screening and assessing drug response. Dr. Shingleton has been trained using several assessment instruments associated with CNS disorders. He has also provided training in administering such scales at our site as well as other research sites in the US and Canada.
Michael Adams, MD, Principal Investigator graduated from the University of Utah School of Medicine and is Board Certified in Family Practice. Over the past few years, he has conducted numerous studies in the following therapeutic areas: ADHD, alcohol dependence, anxiety, dementia, depression, diabetes, fibromyalgia, hot flashes, hypertension, insomnia, irritable bowel syndrome, lipids, migraine, obesity, osteoarthritis, pain, Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder, Restless Leg Syndrome, smoking cessation and vaccines.

Radiant Research-Salt Lake City is housed in an 11,000 square foot facility in the center of the Salt Lake Valley. The facility has a dedicated laboratory for sample collection, processing and shipment to central labs – including a refrigerated centrifuge, -20ºC and -70◦C freezers, and double-locked, temperature controlled drug storage. Twelve-lead ECG machines and digital scales are on-site, and a nearby radiology facility enables CT scans, X-rays, MRIs, DEXA scans, and echocardiograms. The facility is located fifteen miles from Salt Lake International Airport. The building provides ample parking and access from major expressways.
